MaineHousing Director Dan Brennan Voiced Concern Over Recent News On The Federal LIHEAP Program But Noted This Year's Program Remains On Track
In response to several media inquiries and public questions MaineHousing Director Daniel Brennan is issuing the following statement:
"MaineHousing is very concerned about yesterday’s news that all federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) staff are no longer with the federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
At this point, we don’t know the federal Administration's plan for the program for the long term, and we’ll be working with our Congressional Delegation to get those answers.
2026 RFQ to Administer a Community Aging in Place Grant Program
MaineHousing is requesting is requesting proposals from experienced, qualified, and professional companies who can provide client intake and assessments, schedule home repair work for eligible units, and conduct final assessments and inspections in those units. Deadline for submissions is December 16, 2025 @ 5pm.
RFP - Technical Assistance Related to Multifamily Housing
MaineHousing is requesting proposals requesting proposals from experienced, qualified, and professional companies who can provide technical assistance to new or inexperienced developers; conduct outreach and training sessions; assist entities including, but not limited to, municipalities and regional economic development groups that are interested in working with a developer to provide housing; and assist MaineHousing when technical assistance is needed with regards to new programs or special situations. Deadline for submissions is December 16, 2025 @ 5pm.
RFQ - Home For Good Projects
Governor Mills and the Maine State Legislature have provided funding for the Home for Good Program to facilitate the delivery of support and stabilization services to residents of properties established or developed to provide permanent housing to address chronic homelessness in the State. This RFQ was established by MaineHousing to select Developer/ Owner/Manager/Service Provider Teams to develop and operate Home for Good Projects. The Deadline for submissions is January 22, 2026 @ 5pm.
2025 - 2025 Warming Shelters
On September 23, Governor Janet Mills and MaineHousing announced $2.3 million in state grants to support the operation of 12 overnight emergency warming centers in seven Maine counties this winter.
