In their continuing efforts to offer solutions to Maine's affordable housing challenges, MaineHousing announced the availability of funds to support the development of subdivisions with affordable single-family homes.
“We know that housing affordability is a significant challenge for people across all income brackets, and especially for those on fixed and lower incomes,” said Dan Brennan, Director of MaineHousing. “We’re working hard to increase the supply of homes Mainers can afford.”
A major goal of the Subdivision Program is to increase the supply of moderately-priced homes available to low income Mainers. To that end, MaineHousing will create unique mortgage products for some of these homes for people who may otherwise not be able to realize the dream of homeownership.
“MaineHousing is investing in Mainers because that’s what’s needed to move our state forward,” Brennan continued. “And a key piece of stability for people is a good, safe, and affordable home.”
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and for as long as resources are available. For program guidelines and additional information, visit MaineHousing’s website.
