    Point In Time Survey
MaineHousing applauds the emergency homeless shelters, community groups, and others working with the state’s two Continuums of Care to conduct the annual Point In Time Survey. On January 28, groups traveled throughout the state (excluding the Portland area) in the snow and freezing temperatures to count. The Portland Continuum of Care will conduct its survey on February 4. The count gives a snapshot of Maine’s homeless population on one night. Last year’s PIT Survey counted 1,200 individuals. For the entire year of 2013, 7,765 individuals were homeless and spent 358,284 nights in homeless shelters.
